The guide line end bars (1) are always drawn in previous versions of ADE.  In most cases that is probably the only way you might want them.  However there is now an option in the guide line properties to turn them off if you wish (2).  Uncheck the Draw End Bars option and Save the changes

The guide line will now be drawn as an arrow but without the end bars
